Gulf coast aquascape - The pond squad
& Certified Aquascape Contractors
Gulf Coast Aquascape (#TeamAquascape) located in Gulf Shores, AL is at it again with the
army of professional pond contractors. This time the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo ( The Little Zoo That Could ) Was looking to have a focal point water feature installed on Spider Monkey Island. This waterfall will be viewed from multiple angles in the center part of the zoo, so getting it right was a must. Building waterfalls like this is an art form, Gulf Coast Aquascape's talented artists realize that Bigger is better ! Bigger Rocks, More water flow, more driftwood, MORE ARTISTS... Will make this project Bigger, but also help promote the new zoo to help it grow and fund it's upgrades to a brand new facility- Opening in Fall 2019 |
This is our second show with the pond squad |

and our waterfalls were front and center for all to enjoy

A new beginning for “The Little Zoo that Could”.
“This is not the first time we had a groundbreaking or whatever out here and we felt strongly that we needed to make things happen,” says project manager Joey Ward.
A new vision for the zoo revealed Monday night for what will be a premiere destination. “Nobody wanted to see another shovel dig dirt,” says Ward, “they wanted to see something happen, see something spectacular.”
It seems to have worked. “I think it’s wonderful,” says guest Pedro Mandoki. “I’ve been involved with it since before. The zoo brings so much to the area.”

a LITTLE ABOUT THE aLABAMA gULF cOAST zOOThe Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo relies solely on admissions, memberships and contributions to remain in business. The local community and businesses have been generous in donating money, building supplies and services in years past. Substantial on-going funding through sponsorships, grants, and endowments from major corporations did not exist before 1998. These additional sources of revenue are now being actively pursued to ensure the zoo's longevity.

THis beautiful waterfall was not cut out of nature, but it was DEFINITELY inspired by her !
A.G.C.Z Contacted us during the planning stages
Gulf Coast Aquascape was contacted in 2015 to design and construct water features at the new facility. Upon meeting with the team, seeing the passion first hand ... taking the vision and turning it into reality was right up our alley. The design of the park is well thought out and totally focused on providing the best environment for the animals, and the value of the zoo experience. Our first project was to create two waterfalls for the Lemur habitat. It is an awesome feature that can be viewed from multiple locations. The next project was another island habitat, this one for Spider Monkeys. However there was a story line that our design needed to follow. Allegedly: the monkeys landed their yacht on the island, which became their home. Having dug up an old urn they used to capture the rainwater. Until a bad hurricane (Ivan) came and knocked it over, causing the water to spill over and is now flowing across the island.

Building a new zoo for over 300 animals
The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo is a 501c Not For Profit entity. They rely solely on entry fees, and donations to maintain and operate a sustainable environment for the animals and their keepers.
Our contribution was important to us both personally and professionally. We believe this project needs everyone's support as well as our Zoo Family (300+) animals deserve our help. Any donation or contribution is greatly appreciated Sincerely Team Aquascape |
